The absence of the obligatory "Amir" in the IIA and the mint master in the IA, as well as their peculiar African-style design, have raised many doubts about the true origin of these coins, despite their clearly Al-Andalus mint. Researcher David Francés Baños, in his monograph on Fez and African coins published in Manquso No. 13 (pp. 27-31), suggests an interesting hypothesis that would place the minting of these coins in the vicinity of the city of Tlemcen, under exceptional circumstances perfectly documented in the chronicles of the period.

However, preceding the intuition of Dr. Albert Cantó, it would be David Francés who would provide a more logical reasoning for its origin, in his book ''On legitimacy, successions and their reflection in Andalusian coinage'' pp. 137-139, justifying the attribution of this coin to Toledo, during the presence of 'Umar al-Mutawakkil, king of Badajoz'.

We only know of two other examples of the same typology. The first one, auctioned in Pliego in December 2001, Lot No. 744, was erroneously attributed to the Banu Hud with reference Benito V14, due to the illegibility of part of the piece. The second, auctioned by Martí Hervera & Soler y Llach, auction 1099 (26/10/2017), Lot No. 258, facilitated a better reading and the current attribution and cataloging. Furthermore, the use of the appellation العضيم / 'al-'Azim' (Grand, Magnificent) is unique in Almoravid numismatics, since it is not seen in any other Quirate or Dinar, despite being a Koranic name.

This series of kirates in the name of el-'Abāsī are difficult to attribute, although Benito de los Mozos, in his latest update of the catalogue Almoravid and post-Amoravid silver: the kirate (2020), attributes these coins to 'Abd al-Malik b. Sa'id, lord of the Qala't of the Banū Sa'īd (Alcalá la Real), although focusing their production and use in Baeza and its surroundings, not only because this is the place where these pieces usually appear, but also because of the enlightening work carried out by the researcher David Francés (2018) on the issues of Alfonso VII in Baeza (Cf.
