México, Lima, Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino, Santiago de Chile, Guatemala, Madrid y Sevilla, acuñan entre 1672 y 1772 el famoso Cara de Rata, uno de los retratos más icónicos del grabador y medallista Tomás Francisco Prieto y de toda la numismática española y que aparecen entre los módulos comprendidos entre el ½ y los 8 Escudos. La ceca de Lima fue, junto a la de México, la más prolífica en cuanto a piezas acuñadas se refiere, encontrando además en ésta dos subtipos de bustos diferenciados básicamente por la forma de la nariz. El primer tipo iría entre 1763 y 1768 y el segundo entre ese mismo 1768 y 1772, fecha en la que se unifican los bustos en el llamado busto propio.
