Las ceremonias de proclamación de los monarcas nunca fueron una tradición en la corona de Aragón, todo lo contrario de lo que ocurría en Castilla. De hecho fueron introducidas por la dinastía de los Borbones a raíz de la Guerra de Sucesión. El 24 de septiembre de 1759 se celebró en Barcelona el advenimiento al trono de Carlos III.
