ALFONSO XIII (1885-1931). Conmemoración del Centenario de la Victoria de Villaviciosa. (Ae. 9,89g/30mm). 1910. EBC.

Con motivo del doscientos aniversario de la Batalla de Villaviciosa, englobada dentro de la Guerra de Sucesión, entre borbónicos, partidarios de Felipe V y austracistas, partidarios del Archiduque Carlos, se emite esta medalla en 1910. Tenemos constancia de la existencia de una variante en plata de ésta y que fue otorgada mediante Real Decreto de 10 de febrero de 1911 a los “descendientes de los caudillos de aquellas jornadas y a los que hayan colaborado a la conmemoración de ellas”.

On the occasion of the two hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Villaviciosa, encompassed within the War of Succession, between Bourbons, supporters of Felipe V and Austracists, supporters of Archduke Carlos, this medal was issued in 1910. We have evidence of the existence of a variant in silver of this and that was granted by means of Real Decree of February 10, 1911 to the "descendants of the leaders of those days and to those who have collaborated in the commemoration of them."
