Junto a Turiasu y Arekorata fue una de las principales ciudades de los Lusones, una de las cuatro en las que se dividía la Celtiberia según Estrabón, y según Plinio fue ciudad estipendiaria de Caesaraugusta. En cualquier caso hablamos de una ciudad de origen celtibérico que acuñó un escaso numerario y con poco desarrollo en el tiempo (centrado, prácticamente en su totalidad, entre mediados y finales del siglo II a.C.) siempre en cobre y con unidades de jinetes lanceros, mitades y cuartos. El tipo principal del anverso, tanto de las unidades como de las mitades, se corresponde con una cabeza masculina, barbada o imberbe, decorada con torques como símbolo de estatus o collares punteados. Los anversos se completan con un delfín delante de la cabeza y el signo epigráfico Bu detrás, inicial del topónimo de la ceca. En el reverso de las unidades figura el jinete lancero con casco tipo montefortino. Son por lo general monedas poco variadas en cuanto a tipología e iconografía pero de un extraordinario valor histórico y numismático.
